Segunda dia de la Lima

Okay, so today was a bit better.  Actualmente, mucho mejor tan ayer.  I got some good sleep under my belt.  Finalamente!  So this is kinda my schedule, horario de las classes.  I wake up at 6:30, stumble around my room for a bit, then go downstairs and eat breakfast.  This morning there was fresh mango juice, again with the thick head.  Almost like a brew.  Then me and the girls are outta the door by 7:30.  We got a much better ride today with the Chomba.  Same cost as Combi but much nicer and more head room than the last.
We got to class a little late, but apparently everything and everybody in Peru is late so it wasn't a big deal.  Plus we live in the barrio Miraflores, and the Universidad is on the other side of town.  Normally it takes about 45 minutes by bus/combi/chomba.  So the first class is at 8:30 and really hard to follow.  I could pick up every fifth word and I kept on dozing off.  The class is Socioeconomic political reality of Peru.  Pretty cool sounding. And if I could understand better, I'm sure it would be.  I also am hopeful this will get better.  The good thing is the grade is based on 40% attendance and 60% is the one presentation we have to give at the end.  Still not sure what it is yet.

Both of my classes are two hours long, with a three hour break in between.  Haven't started my Literatura class yet, but I have a full day tomorrow.  Also, tomorrow we are going on a MiraBus tour, should be pretty cool.  Then Thrusday we leave for Cuzco, Aguas Callientes (a hot spring town), and Machu Picchu.  We return on Sunday.  I'll be off the grid for this trip.

Anyway, after class we returned home and had a delicioso meal, lunch is the biggest meal of the day hre and this is the first time we had it at the house.  It was some type of white fish, fried, then piled high with onions, a half a sweet potato, broccolli and carrots (with salsa golf - mayo and ketchup mix) and a boiled egg.  Doesn't sound too good writing it but it was so good.  Then for dessert we had a banana each drizzled with dulce leche.  mmmmm.

I climbed on a rock wall like a monkey, had a Cuzcoquena beer (much like a porter, very good), and then went to el mercado que se llama Wong.  Lot's of Chino influence here.  More food, I'm really eating my way through this place.  We got some fresh churros (choco y normal), also I bought some fresh squeezed orange and carrot juice, passion fruit, pepino melon, gaunarana, y tamales pollo.  Oh, and some straight up bee pollen pellets? and some creamy honey.  Figured it would be good in the Coca Te I bought yesterday.  I'll post a pic of all this and more in a bit.

Hasta Luego

Wow, still not quite 'here' yet

Hola!
Woah, tough first day.  But I wasn't the only one...  Arrived in Lima today, this morning I guess at 1am, got to my home around 2:30 am, and went to bed I think somewhere around 4 am.   Then comes a knock on my door after I hit the snooze button a few times (7:30 ish), and a girl saying you ready?  Okay I need you to be ready in like 5-10 minutes, I'm going to show you girls how to take the combi to get to the Universidad del Pacifico.
So I stuff some things into my pack, brush my teeth, throw on some clothes and go downstairs.  There are three girls in the dining room, two came here yesterday and are in the same program/classes as me.  Molly and Rachael, they are from Princeton and 20 years old.  The other, Nicole, is leaving tonight at 12.  She has been here for 2 months and knew her stuff.  Man I wish she is still around.  Anyway, there was fresh juice on the table, thick with a few inches of foam and a couple inches of juice.  Fruit is unknown, but I liked it - alot.  So much so that the other girls didnt so I finished it for them on the way out.  Then I put some manjar (kinda looks like peanut butter but tastes like dulce de leche on some bread.  Scarfed that down and then we were off.  We hailed down a combi ( a crazy taxi/bus mix public transport)  There were probably already ten persons in the mini (very mini) van, so when the four of us boarded we had to stand.  Stood the whole way, about 40 minutes, crouched over because the ceiling was too low.  Finally our stop, where we yelled 'baja' and the man opened the door and we piled out.  The whole ride was crazy, horns tooting high pitched little toots and the driver almost hitting other cars the whole time, witht he man crouched by the sliding door yelling at people on the street soliciting for more passengers.

Ah, you know what I gotta sleep.  I'll wrap it up.  We walked - all day long, spoke what Spanglish I could.  Tomorrow I begin classes, and I hope I know how to get there.  But as far as necessities, Im good.  I have a very very full belly, just took a shower and now sleep.  I'll write more tomorrow.  It's been a crazy day, very fun, but very busy.  Hasta manana.
